Architecture & Design
When architect and entrepreneur Alberto Laposse purchased two 18th-century buildings in 2004, he knew he wanted to fuse them into a great house with respect for its history. The contrast of neo-classical colonial style with a sophisticated contemporary design aesthetic required a painstaking attention to detail. San Miguel de Allende’s own history was a powerful guiding hand throughout the process, and Laposse turned often to local artisans and craftsmen as a way to honor local history. He and fellow architect Germán Velasco aimed to create a space that takes everything into account: materials, lighting, design, and furnishings—resulting in a fully immersive aesthetic environment.
