High above the jazz and blues bars, cafés, and boutiques of Chicago’s swinging Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, The Robey draws a hip and creative crowd both day and night. Situated at the six-way intersection of Milwaukee, Damen, and North Avenues in the triangular Northwest Tower—known colloquially as the Coyote Building—The Robey scoops up curious gourmands who pass by its ground-floor Café Robey, which serves up French-American cuisine, and entices those partial to sky-high cocktails with Up & Up, a rooftop cocktail lounge gazing out over Chicago’s ever-changing cityscape.
The 69-room hotel by Grupo Habita also houses the Café Robey Lounge behind its limestone Art Deco façade, which is perfect for collaborative meet-ups, business sit-downs, and private events. While the meeting facilities and swanky Panorama suite and bar are more attuned to sober sophistication, The Robey’s public spaces are establishing themselves as integral in the already intoxicating neighborhood nightlife scene.

A MOONWARD HOWL
The gray limestone structure that houses The Robey is one of the tallest in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area, and its unique triangular prism shape ensures that it stands out as one of the neighborhood’s most recognizable landmarks. Although formally called the Northwest Tower, the 1929-built building is nicknamed the Coyote Building due to its “howling” appearance, some say. The 12-story building dons an Art Deco façade and features a rooftop cupola and lantern, as originally designed by the Chicago-based firm Perkins, Chatten, and Hammond. The property was preserved by Antunovich Associates, also from Chicago and Washington D.C
