Designed by architect Pavel Andreev—known for the internationally acclaimed redesign of the Bolshoi Theater in 2011—the new building is respectful of the surrounding structural heritage while forging the way for something new in the historic center. The result is an impressive Art Nouveau building. Inside, the mix of styles is also refreshing. The Sever-Yug (north-south) restaurant on the second floor features curved glass and wood ceilings that together with the furniture exude a retro-futuristic vibe.
StandArt Hotel Moscow, has put the Russian capital firmly on the hospitality map. Housed behind a monumental Art Nouveau façade, StandArt surprises with unexpected modernism and sleek lines, boasting 105 carefully designed rooms and suites, some of which offer breathtaking views of Pushkin square. Guests and locals mingle at the lobby and the ninth-floor lounge bars, or recharge with a city view and an innovative menu at Sever-Yug restaurant, courtesy of the Michelin-starred chef Angel Pascual. Also a first for the city’s luxury lifestyle landscape, StandArt’s exceptional spa includes a full thermal zone — complete with a traditional Russian steam room and the country’s first Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics studio. “The opportunity to share my feelings and experiences is my main motivation for creating decorative panels and psychedelic paintings for the StandArt Hotel in Moscow,” he says. In the Deluxe room, a soothing grey palette thanks to Art Beton stucco effect walls, eye-catching “sgraffito” relief artwork by Tratsevskiy, and well-chosen accessories gives the space a striking urban feel. Rounded furniture, door, and even the wall relief soften the overall ambience.
Armed with a monumental and decorative art degree from Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry, Stanislav Tratsevskiy has carved an envious path for himself using his diverse range of skills. The talented artist not only paints canvas but frescoes and mosaics. He is also an interior designer, sought-after by the elite in Russia and Europe to do their private residences. You might say he is interested in everything that could tell a story: “No matter what style of art, a story must be told. In Kafka-ism or surrealism there could be multiple narratives that you glimpse. I like that. You start with a sketch or an idea and then it needs to be polished.”
